What are some easy exercises that I can do at home?

Due to Covid-19, our gym is still closed. What are some easy exercises that I can do at home, without any equipment?

If you have a ledge or step at home, you could do box jumps. You can also use the step to do tricep dips.

You could try push-ups, squats, lunges, sit-ups, shuttle runs, and skaters.

When I don't have access to equipment, I love to do full-body HIIT circuits. I aim to work out for about 30 minutes, so I alternate between 2 circuits, with 30 seconds rest between each round, until I reach 30 minutes. For example:

Circuit 1

5 Rounds:

  • 50 High knees
  • 30 Alternating lunges
  • 10 Jumping squats

Circuit 2

5 Rounds:

  • 25 seconds Plank
  • 15 Burpees
  • 5 Inchworm push-ups

Depending on the regulations in your country, you may be able to go running outside. I have been running at least 4 times per week and I have set a goal for myself to do a half-marathon before December!

You can do plenty of core and abdominal exercises. All that you will need is a yoga mat or a thick carpet. Some core exercises you could do are:

  • Plank
  • Crunches
  • Sit-ups
  • V-Ups
  • Up Tucks
  • Toe taps
  • Bicycles

If you struggle with any of these exercises, you can normally find great demonstrations and alternatives on YouTube.
