What is the best low-impact cardio for weight loss?

Asked 4 years ago

I have been struggling with knee pain the past few weeks and running has been making it much worse! What types of cardio should I do for weight loss that won't hurt my knees?

Indoor cycling and spinning classes are a great option! You can burn plenty of calories in a short amount of time in a spinning class. You can also adjust the resistance on the bike if your knees hurt at any point.

Rowing is a fantastic low-impact form of cardio. It uses your legs, back and arms so it is a great full-body workout too!

Dance Fitness is a fun, low-impact way to get your cardio in. If the routine involves a lot of jumping, modify the moves so that you can still have a great workout, but without the extra strain!

I would try Water Fitness or Aqua Aerobics. The water takes a lot of the pressure off of your muscles and joints.

Try walking at an incline on the treadmill rather than running. You can burn a similar amount of calories in the same amount of time.

Rebounding or mini-trampoline is an amazing option! Although you do a lot of jumping and bouncing, there isn't a lot of strain on your joints.

I also like the short low-impact cardio burst during Bootybarre classes. The focus is mostly on strength and flexibility, but every now and then there are some great cardio routines.

Alignment Yoga Sculpt is a good low-impact workout.
