How should I fit 5 meals in each day?

Asked 4 years ago

My day usually starts at 8am and ends at about 6pm. I have been struggling to figure out how to fit 5 meals into my day and when I should be eating them. Any advice?

Try to eat every 2 and a half hours, with your first meal at 8am and your last at 6pm.

Planning your meals ahead of time really helps. Pack your meals into lunchboxes the night before so that they are ready when you need them.

Just eat. It’s tough to eat that much food in a small amount of time, so don't eat anything bigger than the size of your palm.

8:00, 10:30, 13:00, 15:30, 18:00. Set alarms on your phone to remind you.

It is easier to do intermittent fasting. Don't eat until 2pm and then just eat 2 bigger meals rather than 5 smaller ones. It will save so much time.

Scientifically there is absolutely no benefit to eating 5 meals in a day over just eating 1. Macros are macros. Just make sure you hit them and find what works for you.

Your meal schedule is very dependant on your fitness goals, so the first question you should be asking yourself is "Why do I want to eat 5 meals per day? What am I trying to achieve?"

I have never tried the 5 meal method. What is the benefit of eating 5 meals over any other number of meals?

I personally don't generally eat meals throughout the day, but rather plenty of smaller snacks. Dinner with the family is always my largest meal. I am diabetic and overweight and so this helps process my blood sugar better throughout the day.

I eat at 8am and then every 3 hours, or when I get hungry. I try to have 3 meals and 2 snacks, which are usually protein shakes or bars.

I only eat one meal per day, and sometimes no meals at all. I have found that a high fat and low carb diet keeps me full for much longer and so it is easy for me to fast for long periods.

I don't find it necessary to have 5 full meals per day. I have 2 meal replacements and protein shakes and then 1 main meal per day. I try to eat like a king at breakfast, a prince at lunch, and a pauper at dinner.

I used to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, and have a snack in between each meal. I kept it at around 2000 calories per day. It was hard at first but I got used to it after a while.
